Emergency medicine rigour, applied to metabolic health and weight management.
Medical Officer – Multistate
Javier Gonzalez, MD, is an emergency medicine physician and serves as Medical Officer for Identity Aesthetics in 15 states and territories, working within our physician-led medical weight management, peptide therapy and precision wellness programs. He brings the clinical perspective of acute-care medicine to a setting where careful assessment, medication safety and ongoing monitoring decide whether a treatment plan is appropriate at all.
His path to medicine began outside it. Dr. Gonzalez served as a United States Marine and as a Navy combat medic, then worked as a paramedic and as a physician assistant before practising as a physician. Each of those roles was built on the same discipline: evaluate what is actually in front of you, decide what matters first, and act on evidence rather than assumption.
As an emergency medicine physician affiliated with HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in Miami, he cares for patients with complex and urgent needs. That work shapes how he approaches elective wellness medicine — with attention to what a patient’s history, medications and laboratory findings actually permit, and to the difference between what a patient wants and what is safe for them.
Dr. Gonzalez is pursuing specialty board certification in obesity medicine through the American Board of Obesity Medicine. That certification is in progress and not yet held. The reason he is pursuing it is the view that obesity is a chronic medical condition rather than a failure of willpower, and that it deserves the same diagnostic rigour as any other chronic disease.
At Identity Aesthetics his clinical work centres on medically supervised GLP-1 weight management, individualized metabolic health planning and carefully evaluated peptide-based therapy. His approach emphasises comprehensive assessment, appropriate laboratory screening, medication safety, individualized treatment planning and continued medical monitoring. Treatment recommendations are made only after clinical review, and not every patient who asks for a therapy is a candidate for it.
Significant weight loss changes more than a number on a scale. Where it is clinically appropriate, his medical planning can run alongside the practice’s aesthetic team, so that changes in facial volume, skin laxity and body composition are anticipated during the weight-loss programme rather than addressed long after it.
