A plan built around your body—not a template

Physician-led guidance brings your goals, health history and realistic expectations into one thoughtful plan.

The short answer

What is Body Contouring?

Non-invasive body contouring uses device-specific energy or cooling to temporarily change the appearance of localized tissue. It is not obesity treatment, does not produce the health benefits of weight loss and cannot match surgical liposuction or skin excision.

Concerns it may address

  • Localized contour concerns despite stable habits
  • Small areas of pinchable fat when compatible with the device
  • Mild skin-quality goals within the device’s indication
  • Patients seeking non-surgical treatment with modest expectations
Candidacy

Who may—or may not—be a candidate

Who may be considered

Adults near a stable weight with a localized concern may be considered after examination. Tissue type, skin laxity, hernia, prior surgery, sensation, circulation and the exact device determine candidacy.

When treatment may not be appropriate

Treatment may be unsuitable with pregnancy, active infection, hernia, impaired sensation or circulation, certain implanted devices, cold-related disorders for cooling devices, or expectations of major weight loss.

Your visit

What happens during treatment

Evaluate

The provider distinguishes fat, lax skin, muscle and bloating because each needs a different plan.

Plan & treat

The treatment area is measured and the device is applied according to manufacturer protocol. Sensation and tissue response are monitored.

Review & follow up

Follow-up photos and measurements assess change. Lifestyle and weight stability remain important.

Informed choice

Important risks, limitations and alternatives

Risks & limitations

Pain, redness, swelling, bruising, numbness, burns, nodules, contour irregularity and unsatisfactory results can occur. Some technologies have device-specific rare complications. Results are not guaranteed and may be subtle.

Alternatives to discuss

  • Nutrition, activity and medical weight-management evaluation
  • Liposuction for more substantial fat removal
  • Abdominoplasty or body-lift surgery for excess skin
  • No treatment when the expected device benefit is too small
Clinical judgment

Why provider experience matters

A device should be chosen only after diagnosing whether the concern is fat, muscle or lax skin. Experienced providers screen contraindications, position applicators accurately and set expectations against surgical alternatives.

Identity Aesthetics approach

  • Diagnosis and anatomy before a product or device
  • Conservative planning with candid limitations
  • Licensed-provider supervision and complication readiness
  • In-office and telehealth boundaries stated clearly
Access & cost

In-office versus telehealth

Consultation and treatment are in-office only.

Pricing: Consultation required. Pricing depends on device, area size, applicators and number of sessions.

Common questions

Body Contouring FAQ

Will I lose weight?
Body contouring is not a weight-loss treatment. Scale change may be minimal even when a localized contour changes.
Is it permanent?
Some treated fat cells may be permanently disrupted, depending on technology, but remaining cells can enlarge and aging continues.
Is surgery better?
Surgery can produce larger and more predictable changes but has anesthesia, scar and recovery risks. The right choice depends on anatomy and goals.
