Current options, one future to watch
Semaglutide
The GLP-1 receptor agonist behind Ozempic® and Wegovy®. Current Wegovy labeling includes injection and adult tablet options with product-specific instructions and indications. A clinician determines which formulation, if any, fits the patient.
Semaglutide GuideFoundayo (orforglipron)
A once-daily oral GLP-1 receptor agonist FDA-approved in 2026 for long-term weight reduction in eligible adults. It can be taken with or without food, but requires product-specific screening, titration, interaction review and ongoing medical monitoring.
Review the 2026 GLP-1 TrackerTirzepatide
The dual GIP/GLP-1 agonist behind Mounjaro® and Zepbound®. By activating two metabolic pathways, tirzepatide produced mean weight reductions of 15.0% to 20.9% at 72 weeks in the SURMOUNT-1 trial, depending on dose and alongside diet and activity counseling. Weekly injection, titrated by your provider for comfort and results.
Tirzepatide GuideMedicines still in trials
Several weight-management medicines are still in clinical trials and have not been approved by the FDA. None of them can legally be sold for human use, none is available for routine prescribing, and we do not prescribe or source any of them. Coverage of trial results is not evidence that a medicine is available or appropriate for you.

GLP-1 FAQs
Am I a candidate for GLP-1 weight loss?
GLP-1 therapy is generally appropriate for adults with a BMI of 30+, or 27+ with a weight-related condition — but candidacy is always determined by your provider after reviewing your health history and labs. Certain conditions, including a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2, rule out treatment.
What results can I expect?
In the trials that supported approval, semaglutide 2.4 mg produced a mean weight reduction of 14.9% at 68 weeks in STEP 1, against 2.4% on placebo; tirzepatide produced mean reductions of 15.0% to 20.9% at 72 weeks across the 5 mg, 10 mg and 15 mg doses in SURMOUNT-1, against 3.1% on placebo. Every participant also received diet and activity counseling. These are trial averages, not a prediction: your own result depends on the medication and dose you are prescribed, how well you tolerate it, adherence and follow-up. The oral options now approved were not part of either trial.
What are the common side effects?
Nausea, constipation and fatigue are most common, especially during dose increases. We titrate slowly and stay in close contact to keep side effects manageable. Your provider will review the full safety profile at your consultation.
How much does the program cost?
Program pricing depends on medication and dose, and includes your baseline and follow-up labs. We'll walk you through exact pricing at your consultation, and financing is available through Cherry. No insurance is required — you are welcome to run your labs through your own insurance instead, but that does not change the program price.
How much of this can I do by telehealth?
Nearly all of it. Your consultation, your follow-ups and your dose adjustments can be done remotely if you are physically located in Texas, North Carolina or South Carolina at the time of the visit. The exception is bloodwork: we send the lab order, but the draw itself happens in person, at a local lab or one of our clinics, because baseline and follow-up panels are part of how your provider doses you safely. Medication ships from a pharmacy licensed in each of those states, subject to a valid prescription.
