The short answer

What is a lash lift?

A lash lift is a cosmetic service that reshapes your natural upper—or, for selected clients, lower—lashes over a silicone shield using professional lifting and setting solutions. It can make lashes appear more curved, visible and open without attaching extensions. A tint may add darker definition, but neither service creates new lashes or changes natural density.

Goals it may address

  • Straight or downward-pointing natural lashes
  • Lashes that look less visible without mascara
  • A low-maintenance, extension-free look
  • Upper and lower lashes that would benefit from customized direction
  • A polished finish before travel or an event
The lash menu

Five ways to refine your natural lashes

Services can be selected individually or combined when your lash condition, sensitivities and product instructions permit.

Signature service

Lash Lift

Natural lashes are carefully positioned on a silicone shield, softened with a lifting lotion and set into a customized curve. The effect is curl and visibility—not added fibers, artificial length or extra density.

Often selected by clients who want an open-eye effect with less daily curling.
Definition

Lash Tint

A professional eye-area tint deepens the visible color of natural lashes. It can define lighter tips and reduce reliance on mascara, but it does not thicken, lengthen or grow lashes.

Formula selection, current eye-area rules and patch-testing guidance determine eligibility.
Conditioning

Keratin or Vitamin Treatment

A cosmetic conditioning step may be added after lift or tint services to support softness, moisture and shine. Ingredients vary by system, so this is not presented as a medical growth treatment or permanent repair.

Your esthetician selects the finishing treatment based on the professional system in use.
Specialized

Lower Lash Lift & Tint

Selected lower lashes may be gently directed and defined to create a more balanced, finished eye look. Lower-lash anatomy is highly individual, so this service is not suitable for every client.

Performed only when lashes can be isolated and the eye area can be protected appropriately.
Comfort add-on

Under-Eye Gel Pads

Cooling gel pads may be placed beneath the eyes for comfort and hydration while helping isolate lower lashes during an upper-lash service.

A cosmetic comfort add-on—not a treatment for eye disease, dark-circle causes or vision concerns.
Luxury add-on

Collagen Mask

A soft under-eye mask can add a soothing, spa-like finish while the lash service is performed. Temporary surface hydration may improve the feel of the skin.

Results depend on the specific mask and do not replace medical evaluation of persistent swelling or irritation.
Important distinction: a lash lift reshapes existing hairs; a tint colors existing hairs. Neither one is an extension service, a prescription growth treatment or a guarantee of longer or fuller lashes.
Candidacy

Who may—or may not—be a candidate

Who may be considered

Adults with healthy natural lashes who want curl, definition or a lower-maintenance look may be considered after an eye-area and lash assessment. Lash length, direction, porosity, prior chemical services and desired finish guide shield size and processing.

When treatment may be postponed

Active conjunctivitis, a stye, blepharitis, inflamed or broken eyelid skin, significant current irritation, recent eye surgery without clearance, known product allergy, severely brittle lashes or inability to keep the eyes comfortably closed may make treatment inappropriate. Tell us about contact lenses, dry-eye symptoms, sensitivities, medications and recent eye procedures.

What happens during a lash service

Assess & design

Your esthetician reviews sensitivities and eye history, examines lash strength and direction, and agrees on a natural or more lifted finish. A patch test may be requested before the appointment according to product and practice protocol.

Protect & treat

The eye area is cleansed and protected. Lashes are isolated and positioned; professional products are applied for controlled, timed processing according to the selected system.

Condition & review

Products are removed completely, a compatible tint or conditioning treatment may be added, and your esthetician reviews product-specific aftercare and rebooking timing.

Informed choice

Safety, limitations and aftercare

Important risks

Possible effects include irritation, burning, watery or red eyes, allergic contact dermatitis, eyelid swelling, uneven curl, overprocessing, brittleness or lash breakage. Eye-surface exposure and infection are uncommon but potentially serious. A negative patch test cannot eliminate all risk.

Get prompt medical help for eye pain, vision change, significant swelling, chemical exposure or persistent redness. If product enters the eye, immediate irrigation and product-specific instructions are important.

Aftercare

  • Follow the exact instructions for the professional product system used
  • Avoid rubbing, pulling or aggressive cleansing around freshly treated lashes
  • Use only compatible eye-area products and clean applicators
  • Delay heat, steam, oils or mascara if your esthetician’s system requires it
  • Do not repeat a lift simply because some new lashes have grown in; allow reassessment first
Why instructions can differ: professional lash systems do not all have identical chemistry or aftercare. For example, some manufacturers permit water exposure immediately, while other protocols restrict water, steam or oils for 24–48 hours. The instructions for the exact system used at your visit take priority.
Why experience matters

The eye area leaves little room for shortcuts

Shield size, lash placement, processing time, product viscosity, hygiene and complete removal all influence the result. An experienced esthetician recognizes lashes that are too fragile to process, protects the ocular surface, avoids applying brow-only color systems to lashes and knows when eye symptoms require postponement or medical referral.

Identity Aesthetics approach

  • Individual lash and eye-area assessment
  • Professional products selected for their intended use
  • Controlled processing—not one timing for every lash type
  • Hygiene, consent and product-specific aftercare
  • Clear boundaries between cosmetic care and medical eye concerns
Access & pricing

In-office service, online convenience

Lash assessment and treatment are performed in office. You may book online from home, but telehealth cannot replace an eye-area evaluation or procedure.

Pricing: Confirm current pricing when booking. Cost varies by location, upper- or lower-lash service, tint, conditioning treatment and under-eye add-ons. Ask about current promotions and service combinations.

Common questions

Lash lift and tint FAQ

What is a lash lift?
A lash lift reshapes your natural eyelashes over a silicone shield with professional lifting and setting solutions. It creates curl and a more open-looking eye without adding extensions.
How long can a lash lift last?
Many professional systems describe results lasting about six to eight weeks. The visible duration varies with your lash-growth cycle, lash condition, chosen system and aftercare.
Can I combine a lash lift and tint?
Often, yes—when the selected tint is specifically intended for eyelashes and your lash and eye-area assessment supports both services. Manufacturer instructions and patch-testing policy control the plan.
Will a keratin or vitamin treatment grow my lashes?
No growth result should be assumed. These are cosmetic conditioning treatments intended to support softness, moisture or shine; they are not prescription lash-growth medications.
Is a lower lash lift right for everyone?
No. Lower lashes must be long enough to isolate safely, and their direction and proximity to the eye matter. Your esthetician may recommend tint alone, upper lashes only or no lower-lash treatment.
Do I need a patch test?
It depends on the product system, history and practice protocol. Some manufacturers recommend testing at least 48 hours before a new-client service. Even a negative test cannot guarantee that a reaction will not occur.
Can I wear contact lenses during treatment?
Tell the esthetician that you wear contacts before the appointment. Because the eyes remain closed and products are used near the eyelids, you may be asked to remove lenses for comfort and safety.
Are lash services available by telehealth?
No. Lash assessment and treatment are in-office services. Online booking is available for convenience.
